London Opera Firm offered a full-scale efficiency of Wagner’s Die Walküre at Smith Sq. Corridor (St John’s Smith Sq.) in November 2023 carried out by Peter Selwyn. [see my review ‘A remarkable sense of energy & engagement‘]
Now the corporate is returning to Smith Sq. for Wagner’s Siegfried, once more with full orchestra carried out by Peter Selwyn.
Having sung Brünnhilde and Wotan in final 12 months’s Die Walküre, Cara McHardy and Simon Thorpe return as Brünnhilde and Der Wanderer, with Brad Cooper as Siegfried, Colin Judson as Mime, Stephan Loges as Alberich and Harriet Williams, who sang Fricka final 12 months, is Erda.
The London Opera Firm was fashioned in 2020 by singers to provide alternatives to performers who had misplaced work within the pandemic. Ranging from comparatively small beginnings, with chamber variations of Wagner’s operas, the corporate based its personal orchestra in 2022 and offered a full model of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
The orchestra is a mixture of professionals, music college students and good amateurs. Selwyn is an skilled Wagnerian; he has been helping on the newest Ring Cycle at Bayreuth and carried out Grimeborn’s Ring [see my interview with Peter, ‘From Bayreuth to Grimeborn‘] in addition to being the chief conductor of the non-professional Lambeth Orchestra.
