PARIS  Hofesh Shechter plunges into the unconscious with Theatre of Desires. The choreographer’s newest evening-length reveals the fantasies and feelings that permeate each desires and the waking thoughts. Carried out by Hofesh Shechter Firm and a small band of dwell musicians, the brand new work premieres in Paris at Théâtre de la Ville June 27–July 17 forward of a European tour this fall. hofesh.co.uk.

WASHINGTON, DC  Following its weeklong celebration of Black ballet dancers in 2022, Kennedy Heart hosts Pathways to Efficiency: Workout routines in Reframing the Narrative for a two-show engagement showcasing works by Black choreographers, danced by Black artists. Visitor curated by Theresa Ruth Howard (who will deliver Pathways to Jacob’s Pillow the next weekend), this system consists of the primary full staging of a latest work by Portia Adams and a premiere from Meredith Rainey alongside new commissions by Jennifer Archibald and Kiyon Ross, the latter a pas de deux created for Ashton Edwards and Zsilas Michael Hughes. Donald Byrd’s From Different Suns, which was commissioned for the 2022 version of this system, additionally returns. July 2–3. kennedy-center.org.
