Amos Lee (born Ryan Anthony Massaro, is an American singer-songwriter whose musical fashion encompasses folks, rock and soul. He was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the College of South Carolina with a level in English.
After working as a schoolteacher and bartender he started to pursue a profession in music. His supervisor submitted a demo recording to Blue Notice Data which resulted in a recording contract and an affiliation with singer Norah Jones.
After returning to Philadelphia, Lee labored as a second grade faculty trainer on the Mary McLeod Bethune College and as a bartender at native music venues. He carried out at “open mic” occasions within the space and, by way of his contacts with promoters, was employed as a gap act for artists like Mose Allison and B.B. King.
