From jazz and Tejano to norteño and ska, ‘El Tiny’ returns with a takeover from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 for Latin Music Month.
There isn’t any stage too small for Los Tigres del Norte, but none can include its impression. For the final 60 years, the Mexican norteño band has constructed a profession round its communities, accumulating tales from its devoted viewers and spinning the battle of Latino life into track. My expensive buddy and Alt.Latino co-host Felix Contreras, in a tearful introduction to this efficiency, sums up Los Tigres del Norte’s mission greatest: “For so long as I can keep in mind, these gents have been giving us again our humanity.”
On the Tiny Desk, Los Tigres del Norte opens with an immigrant anthem that clearly proclaims: “I did not cross the border / The border crossed me.” And in our workplace house, that message is hit with the identical certainty as a struck guitar chord or an accordion riff. This is only one of many tales that validate the experiences of the Mexican households this band loves. However on a world scale, that position transforms: Los Tigres del Norte performs on behalf of Latin America, talking fact to energy: Somos más Americanos.
