With Meditations for Harpsichord, British-Polish harpsichordist Katarzyna Kowalik will collect collectively 9 newly commissioned works by 5 British and 4 Polish composers.
The mission will obtain its world premiere at Colet Home in London on 20 October 2026, adopted by the Polish premiere on 24 October in Hashtag Lab, Warsaw, in addition to performances within the UK and Poland all through 2026–27, together with occasions for the New School, Oxford, Nationwide Centre for Early Music, The Confraternity of Polish Artists in Nice Britain & POSK, Warsaw Music Encounters Competition, amongst others.
Written for harpsichord, Tibetan singing bowls, gongs and electronics, the works discover the instrument from radically totally different views, incorporating up to date strategies, resonance, silence, improvisatory parts and immersive sound. The programme shall be framed by an unmeasured prelude by Louis Couperin and Froberger’s Méditation sur ma mort future. The 9 up to date composers featured are Rolf Hind, Janet Oates, John Palmer, Kevin Raftery, Nicola LeFanu, Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska, Andrzej Karałow, Dariusz Przybylski and Anna Maria Huszcza.
The October performances coincide with the discharge of the mission’s recording on Prima Facie Data. An accompanying e book, co-edited by Katarzyna Kowalik and John Palmer, revealed by Imaginative and prescient Version, will characteristic contributions from all 9 composers, providing additional views on the music, the commissioning course of and the concepts behind the mission.
