Planet Hugill: B:Classical – B:Music’s 2026/27 classical season in Birmingham mixes native and home-grown expertise with worldwide guests

B:Music is the charity chargeable for Birmingham Symphony Corridor, house of the Metropolis of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), and City Corridor, the town’s most iconic historic constructing, every year welcoming greater than 500,000 guests to take pleasure in our programme of over 700 live shows that includes native, regional and worldwide music. Alongside a wide-ranging programme of live shows, B:Music presents a classical season that enhances the home-grown CBSO with worldwide ensembles.

B:Music’s 2026/27 classical season opens with a bang as Martha Argerich is the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Lahav Shani, in a programme that features music by Louise Farrenc and Brahms.

The NDR Radiophilharmonic Hannover, of their first go to to Birmingham since 2017, carry out Beethoven and Brahms underneath conductor Stanislav Kochanovsky. The season concludes with a pair of blockbusters. Opera North, conductor Anthony Hermus, brings their live performance staging of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde with John Matthew Myers and Wendy Bryn Harmer, then there’s a go to from The Hallé, conductor Kahchun Wong in Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast.

Birmingham City Corridor

A collection of six Sunday morning recitals the Jennifer Blackwell Efficiency House is launched by soprano Camila Mandillo in Monteverdi, Mozart, Poulenc, Ligeti and Bushra El-Turk. Mandillo has been chosen as a Rising Star by ECHO (the European Live performance Corridor Organisation). The opposite Sunday morning recitals, all ECHO Rising Stars function cellist Petar Pejčić, the Javus Quartet, the Amelio Trio, soprano Elionor Martínez and violinist Ava Bahari.

Thomas Trotter celebrates the 900th recital of his tenure as Birmingham Metropolis Organist as a part of his programme of lunchtime live shows at Symphony Corridor and City Corridor, supplying you with an opportunity to check and distinction the 2001 Klais organ in Symphony Corridor with the historic William Hill organ in City Corridor which dates again to the 1830s with a rebuilding within the Nineties and a newer 1983 reconstruction by Mander to return it to its 1890 state.
