Final night time, 11 November, The Ivors Academy offered awards to the winners at The Ivors Classical Awards. The celebration of excellent new compositions by British, Irish and UK resident composers. BBC Radio 3 will broadcast the ceremony on 15 November in a particular version of the New Music Present and the episode can even be out there on BBC Sounds.

  • Greatest Choral Composition – Anna Clyne was awarded her first Ivor Novello Award for Orbits, a chunk commissioned and carried out by The Sixteen and Harry Christophers setting the poem I Reside My Life In Rising Orbits by Rilke in a translation by American poet Robert Bly. 
  • Greatest Chamber Ensemble Composition – London-based Chilean composer Anibal Vidal is a first-time nominee who acquired his first Ivor Novello Award for InvocaciĂłn n. 2: A Kintsugi Resurrection. The title refers back to the Japanese artwork of Kintsugi. It was commissioned by the Britten Sinfonia who  carried out the world premiere with trumpet soloist Imogen Whitehead and conductor Tom Fetherstonhaugh at St Giles Cripplegate
  • Greatest Group and Participation Composition – Jonathan Dove acquired his fourth Ivor Novello Award and librettist April De Angelis acquired her first for his or her work Rebellion, a group opera co-commissioned by Saffron Corridor Belief and Glyndebourne. Specializing in the local weather disaster, the opera goals to encourage actual change, utilizing a fictional household to emphasize the universality and timelessness of this trigger. 
  • Greatest Giant Ensemble Composition – First-time nominee Nneka Cummins acquired their first award for his or her work discovering gills [when they try to drown you] for chamber orchestra and electronics. Commissioned by nonclassical, the work was first carried out by the Sinfonia Smith Sq. Orchestra at Sinfonia Smith Sq.. 
  • Greatest Orchestral Composition – Helen Grime was awarded her second Ivor Novello Award and librettist Zoe Gilbert acquired her first for his or her work People for soprano and orchestra. Commissioned by BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Britten Pears Arts, the BBCSSO carried out the premiere alongside Claire Sales space and conductor Ryan Wigglesworth at Glasgow Metropolis Halls. 
  • Greatest Small Chamber Composition – First time nominee Luke Mombrea collected his first award for his work Black Gold for chamber ensemble and electronics by the London  Symphony Orchestra as a part of its Discovery Soundhub Showcase and was first carried out by Clare Findlater, Colin Alexander, Josie Ellis, Matt Farthing and Luke Mombrea at LSO St Luke’s in London. 
  • Academy Fellowship – Anne Dudley was awarded an Ivor Novello Award and inducted right into a Fellowship. She is a pioneering determine in widespread music. She was a founding member of Eighties digital music group Artwork  of Noise, whose experiments in sampling stay influential to this present day.
